Ajeesh and I were staying in the same room in Vailankanni Cottages that I'd stayed in April. Raju arrived about 10am, looking rather wet. It was raining hard and had been since 4 am.
He told us that no breakfast was ready for us. I could smell the alcohol on his breath. We agreed to reconvene at 11·30. Ajeesh and I walked on the beach and then went to meet Raj and the others. We ate lunch in the room Raju and Margaret Mary share, next to the room Ravi, Bobby, Gautami and Dhanush share. I think these are rented from the unpleasant Mr Vinson.
Suriya and I talked alone for a while. She was very upset because Raj was making her life difficult. She needs to book and justify the time he takes off from his preaching job and Raj doesn't tell her when or why - just skives and expects her to cover for him.
Later Raj, Ajeesh, Ravi and Bobby reappeared. Ravi had just landed a job as a waiter and was very pleased. He ate with his family. I have no record in either of my diaries about what happened during the rest of the day.
